A smart trap is similar to a conventional trap such as a box cat trap but isn’t limited to this style. What makes it a smart trap is the connection to the internet and more importantly the addition of a camera. This allows users to see exactly what is going on in the trap including daily health/ethical checks conveniently from anywhere in the world. some systems also include a remote release function, allowing quick identification and release any non target species.
Over the years we have spoken to rangers and other land managers far and wide. A common comment when discussing conventional trapping is the amount of effort vs reward. This often sadly results with little or no traps being set, even when feral predators are identified in the area.
A smart trapping solution bridges the gap between effort vs reward by greatly reducing the unnecessary trips to check empty traps and on some models remote release of non target species.
This reduces the visits to trap sites greatly saving time and money and potentially encouraging timid animals into the traps sooner.
Our smart trapping solutions can be fitted to ANY style of trap. Whilst they are easier to fit to box style traps, they can also be installed on leg traps and gate traps with minor modifications.

The smart trapping solutions require an internet connection but 4G is only one of the possibilities. We have connected out system to Satellite Internet, 3G/4G Mobile, Wifi and standard broadband including fixed and wireless NBN.
Point-to-Point wireless bridges can be used to share an internet connection with multiple devices and get connection in “non coverage areas” where practical.
*Note: The standard trapping system we offer is currently limited to 4G. Any other requirements will require a custom solution. We are always happy to discuss the possibilities with you or your team.
